⚙️ Forgot Password Guide

If you've forgotten your password, Incentise provides two secure methods to regain access to your account:

  1. Email Verification Code Method - Reset your password using a verification code sent to your email
  2. Magic Link Method - Sign in passwordlessly using a secure link sent to your email

Both methods are secure and designed to protect your account. Choose the method that works best for you.


Method 1: Reset Password with Email Verification Code

This method allows you to reset your password by receiving a verification code via email. This is the recommended method if you want to change your password.

Step 1: Access Forgot Password Page

  1. Navigate to the Login page
  2. Click on "Forgot Password" or "Forgot your password?" link
  3. You will be redirected to the Forgot Password page

Step 2: Enter Your Email or Username

  1. On the Forgot Password page, you'll see a form asking for your email or username
  2. Enter either:
    • Your registered email address, OR
    • Your username
  3. Click "Send Verification Code"

You can use either your email address or username to request a password reset. The system will find your account using either identifier.

Step 3: Check Your Email

  1. Check your email inbox (and spam/junk folder if needed)
  2. Look for an email from Incentise with the subject "Reset Your Password"
  3. The email contains a verification code (typically 6 digits)
  4. The verification code is valid for 15 minutes

If you don't receive the email:

  • Check your spam/junk folder
  • Verify you entered the correct email address or username
  • Wait a few minutes and try again
  • Contact support if the issue persists

Step 4: Enter Verification Code and New Password

  1. After clicking "Send Verification Code", you'll be automatically redirected to the verification page
  2. Enter the verification code from your email
  3. Enter your new password (minimum 8 characters)
  4. Confirm your new password by entering it again
  5. Click "Verify & Set New Password"

  • Make sure both password fields match exactly

Step 5: Success and Login

  1. Upon successful password reset, you'll see a success message
  2. You'll be automatically redirected to the Login page
  3. Sign in with your email/username and your new password

Your password has been successfully reset! You can now log in with your new password.


The Magic Link method allows you to sign in without entering a password. This is perfect if you've forgotten your password and just want to access your account quickly. Note: This method signs you in but doesn't change your password.

  1. Navigate to the Login page
  2. Click on "Sign in with Magic Link" or navigate directly to the Magic Link page
  3. You can also access it from: /auth/magic-link

Step 2: Enter Your Email

  1. On the Magic Link page, enter your registered email address
  2. Click "Send Magic Link"

The Magic Link method requires your email address. Username cannot be used for this method.

Step 3: Check Your Email

  1. Check your email inbox (and spam/junk folder if needed)
  2. Look for an email from Incentise with the subject "Your Magic Link to Sign In"
  3. The email contains a secure link that will automatically sign you in
  4. The magic link is valid for 15 minutes

  1. Open the email and click on the magic link button or URL
  2. Your browser will automatically open and verify the link
  3. You'll see a "Verifying Magic Link" message while the system processes your request

The magic link is a one-time use link. Once used, it cannot be used again for security reasons.

Step 5: Automatic Sign In

  1. After clicking the magic link, you'll be automatically signed in
  2. You'll see a success message: "Welcome Back! You have been successfully signed in"
  3. You'll be automatically redirected to your home page

You're now signed in! The magic link method bypasses the need for a password entirely.


Troubleshooting

Common Issues and Solutions

Issue: "Email or Username not found"

Solution:

  • Double-check that you're using the correct email address or username
  • Ensure you're using the account associated with your Incentise provider account
  • Try using your email instead of username (or vice versa)

Issue: "Verification code is invalid"

Solution:

  • Make sure you're entering the exact code from your email (no spaces)
  • Check if the code has expired (codes expire after 15 minutes)
  • Request a new verification code if needed
  • Note: After 3 failed attempts, you'll need to request a new code

Issue: "Verification code attempts limit reached"

Solution:

  • You've exceeded the maximum number of attempts (3)
  • You'll need to start over and request a new verification code
  • Go back to the Forgot Password page and request a new code

Issue: "Verification code expired"

Solution:

  • Verification codes expire after 15 minutes
  • Request a new verification code from the Forgot Password page
  • Make sure to use the code promptly after receiving it

Solution:

  • Magic links expire after 15 minutes
  • Request a new magic link from the Magic Link page
  • Make sure to click the link promptly after receiving it

Solution:

  • Magic links can only be used once for security
  • Request a new magic link if you need to sign in again
  • Each magic link is single-use only

Issue: "Password reset request already used"

Solution:

  • Each verification code can only be used once
  • If you've already reset your password with a code, you'll need to request a new one
  • This prevents unauthorized reuse of reset codes

Issue: Email not received

Solution:

  • Check your spam/junk folder
  • Wait a few minutes (emails may take 1-2 minutes to arrive)
  • Verify your email address is correct
  • Check if your email provider is blocking emails from Incentise
  • Try requesting again after a few minutes
