⚙️ Account Settings

Welcome to your Account Settings! This guide will help you manage your profile, account information, social media links, password, and other important settings. All settings are organized in easy-to-find sections using the sidebar menu.


📍 Accessing Account Settings

To access your Account Settings:

  1. Log in to your Incentise account
  2. Navigate to Settings from the main menu
  3. You'll see a sidebar on the left with different setting categories:
    • Profile - Manage your personal information
    • Account - View and edit your account details
    • Social Media - Add your social media links
    • Change Password - Update your password
    • Delete Account - Remove your account permanently

👤 Profile Settings

The Profile section lets you manage how others see you on the platform. You can update your profile picture and personal information here.

Uploading or Changing Your Profile Picture

Your profile picture appears on your profile and helps others recognize you.

To upload or change your profile picture:

  1. Go to SettingsProfile
  2. In the Profile Picture section, you'll see your current profile picture (or your initials if you haven't uploaded one)
  3. Click the Choose File button or click in the file input area
  4. Select an image file from your computer
  5. The image will upload automatically

Profile picture requirements:

  • File types allowed: JPG, JPEG, PNG, GIF, or WebP
  • Maximum file size: 5MB (5,000 KB)
  • Recommended: Square images work best (e.g., 500x500 pixels)

If your image is too large, you can resize it using free online tools or your computer's built-in image editor before uploading.

If you see an error message:

  • "File size should be less than 5MB" - Your image is too large. Please resize it and try again.
  • "Only JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP, or JPEG files are allowed" - Your file format is not supported. Please convert it to one of the supported formats.

Updating Your Name

You can update your first name and last name at any time.

To update your name:

  1. Go to SettingsProfile
  2. In the Profile form, you'll see two fields:
    • First Name - Enter your first name
    • Last Name - Enter your last name
  3. Type your name in each field
  4. Click Save Changes

Name requirements:

  • First name must be between 2 and 50 characters
  • Last name must be between 2 and 50 characters
  • Both fields are required

Your name will be visible to others on the platform, so make sure it's accurate and professional.


🔐 Account Settings

The Account section shows your account information and allows you to edit your username and email address.

Viewing Your Account Information

To view your account details:

  1. Go to SettingsAccount
  2. You'll see the following information:
    • Username - Your unique username on the platform
    • Email - Your registered email address
    • Status Account - Your account status (usually "Active")
    • Created At - When you created your account
    • Modified At - When your account was last updated

All this information is displayed for your reference. You can edit your username and email using the links provided.

Changing Your Username

Your username is how others can find and mention you on the platform.

To change your username:

  1. Go to SettingsAccount
  2. Find the Username field
  3. Click the "Edit your username" link
  4. On the Edit Username page, enter your new username in the field
  5. Click Change Username

Username requirements:

  • Must be at least 3 characters long
  • Must be unique (not already taken by another user)
  • Can contain letters, numbers, and some special characters

If you see an error that the username is already taken, try a different variation or add numbers to make it unique.

To cancel: Click the Cancel button to return to the Account page without saving changes.

Changing Your Email Address

Changing your email address is a two-step process for security. You'll need to verify your new email address before it becomes active.

Step 1: Request Email Change

  1. Go to SettingsAccount
  2. Find the Email field
  3. Click the "Edit your email" link
  4. On the Edit Email page, you'll see two fields:
    • Current Email - Enter your current email address
    • New Email - Enter the new email address you want to use
  5. Click Save Changes (Step 1 of 2)

Make sure you have access to the new email address, as you'll need to check it for a verification code.

Step 2: Verify Your New Email

After requesting the email change:

  1. Check your new email inbox (and spam/junk folder if needed)
  2. Look for an email from Incentise with a verification code
  3. The email will contain a 4-digit verification code
  4. You'll be automatically redirected to the verification page, OR
  5. Go to SettingsAccountEdit Email Verification
  6. Enter the 4-digit verification code from your email
  7. Click Verify Code (Step 2 of 2)

Once verified, your email address will be updated and you'll be redirected back to the Account page.

Important notes about email changes:

  • The verification code expires after a certain time (usually 15 minutes)
  • If you don't receive the email, check your spam folder
  • Make sure you enter the exact code from the email
  • If the code doesn't work, you may need to request a new one

To cancel: Click the Cancel button at any time to return to the Account page without completing the change.


📱 Social Media Settings

The Social Media section lets you add links to your social media profiles and share your bio page with others.

Sharing Your Bio Page

Your bio page is a public page that shows your profile information and social media links. You can share this link with others.

To copy your bio page link:

  1. Go to SettingsSocial Media
  2. At the top, you'll see a section called "Share your bio"
  3. Your bio URL will be displayed in a text field (it looks like: https://incentise.com/your-username/bio)
  4. Click the Copy button to copy the link to your clipboard
  5. You can now paste and share this link anywhere

Share your bio link on your business cards, email signature, or other profiles to help others find you on Incentise!

You can add links to your various social media profiles so others can connect with you.

Supported social media platforms:

  • LinkedIn
  • Instagram
  • Facebook
  • X (formerly Twitter)
  • YouTube
  • TikTok
  • GitHub
  • Website

To add a social media link:

  1. Go to SettingsSocial Media
  2. Scroll down to "Your Social Media Links" section
  3. If you don't have any links yet, you'll see an "Add Social Media" button
  4. Click "Add Social Media" to add a new link
  5. For each link, you'll see:
    • A dropdown menu to select the social media type (LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.)
    • A text field to enter your profile URL
  6. Select the social media platform from the dropdown
  7. Enter your complete profile URL (e.g., https://linkedin.com/in/yourname)
  8. Click "Save Changes" at the bottom of the page

To add multiple social media links:

  1. After adding your first link, click "Add Social Media" again
  2. Repeat the process for each platform you want to add
  3. You can add as many social media links as you want
  4. Click "Save Changes" when you're done

To edit an existing social media link:

  1. Find the social media link you want to edit
  2. Change the platform type in the dropdown (if needed)
  3. Update the URL in the text field
  4. Click "Save Changes"

To remove a social media link:

  1. Find the social media link you want to remove
  2. Click the red "Delete" button next to that link
  3. Click "Save Changes" to confirm the removal
tip

URL format tips:

  • Always include the full URL starting with https:// or http://
  • Make sure the URL is correct and accessible
  • You can test the URL by copying it and pasting it in a new browser tab

🔑 Change Password

The Change Password section allows you to update your account password for better security.

To change your password:

  1. Go to SettingsChange Password
  2. You'll see two password fields:
    • Current Password - Enter your current password
    • New Password - Enter your new password
  3. Enter your current password in the first field
  4. Enter your new password in the second field
  5. Click the eye icon (👁️) next to each field to show or hide the password as you type
  6. Click Change Password

Password requirements:

  • Must be at least 8 characters long
  • Must contain at least one uppercase letter (A-Z)
  • Must contain at least one lowercase letter (a-z)
  • Must contain at least one number (0-9)
  • Maximum 100 characters

Important security tips:

  • Never share your password with anyone
  • Use a unique password that you don't use for other accounts
  • If you forget your password, use the "Forgot Password" feature on the login page
  • If you enter the wrong current password, you'll see an error message

If your password change is successful, you'll see a success message and the form will be cleared. You can now log in with your new password.


🗑️ Delete Account

The Delete Account section allows you to permanently remove your account from Incentise. This action cannot be undone.

Warning: Deleting your account is permanent and irreversible. Once deleted:

  • All your account data will be removed
  • You'll lose access to all your incentives and history
  • You won't be able to recover any information
  • You'll be logged out immediately

Please make sure you really want to delete your account before proceeding.

To delete your account:

  1. Go to SettingsDelete Account
  2. Read the warning message carefully
  3. In the Confirmation field, you must type exactly: DELETE MY ACCOUNT
    • The text must be in all capital letters
    • It must match exactly, including spaces
  4. Type the confirmation text in the field
  5. Click the red "Delete My Account" button

If you don't type the confirmation text exactly as "DELETE MY ACCOUNT" (all caps, with spaces), you'll see an error message and the account won't be deleted.

What happens after deletion:

  1. Your account will be permanently deleted
  2. You'll see a success message
  3. You'll be automatically logged out
  4. You'll be redirected to the login page
  5. You won't be able to log in with your old credentials

If you change your mind:

  • Simply don't complete the deletion process
  • You can close the page or navigate away
  • Your account will remain active until you complete the deletion

❓ Troubleshooting Common Issues

Profile Picture Won't Upload

Problem: You see an error when trying to upload a profile picture.

Solutions:

  • Check that your file is less than 5MB in size
  • Make sure your file is in one of these formats: JPG, JPEG, PNG, GIF, or WebP
  • Try a different image file
  • Check your internet connection

Can't Change Email

Problem: You're not receiving the verification email.

Solutions:

  • Check your spam/junk folder
  • Make sure you entered the correct new email address
  • Wait a few minutes and check again
  • Try requesting a new verification code
  • Make sure your email inbox isn't full

Username Already Taken

Problem: You see an error that your desired username is already taken.

Solutions:

  • Try adding numbers to your username (e.g., johnsmith123)
  • Try a different variation or spelling
  • Add underscores or other allowed characters
  • Be creative and unique!

Password Change Not Working

Problem: You see an error when trying to change your password.

Solutions:

  • Make sure you entered your current password correctly
  • Check that your new password meets all requirements:
    • At least 8 characters
    • Contains uppercase letter
    • Contains lowercase letter
    • Contains a number
  • Try typing the password again to make sure there are no typos

Can't Save Settings

Problem: Your changes aren't saving.

Solutions:

  • Check your internet connection
  • Make sure all required fields are filled in correctly
  • Look for error messages in red text below the fields
  • Try refreshing the page and entering your information again
  • Make sure you clicked the "Save Changes" button

💡 Tips for Managing Your Account

  1. Keep your information up to date - Regularly review and update your profile information
  2. Use a strong password - Create a unique password that's hard to guess
  3. Add your social media links - Help others connect with you by adding your social media profiles
  4. Keep your profile picture current - A recent photo helps others recognize you
  5. Share your bio link - Use your bio page link to promote your presence on Incentise
